西羅殿｜Xi-luo Temple

Located in He-ping Street and founded in the KangXi emperor ruling period, Xi-luo Temple is enshrined with Guang Zhe ZunWang, a.k.a. Saint King. It is said that the statue is the oldest inclusive of both Mainland and Taiwan. And this temple is also the earliest temple of Guang Zhe ZunWang. Therefore, this temple is deemed as the Founding Temple of Guang Zhe Zun Wang.

西羅殿所供奉的廣澤尊王（郭聖王），是從福建省泉州府晉江縣來的郭姓家族所攜來。最初郭姓家族多在碼頭當工人，故初時廟貌不大。清康熙五十七年（1718年）草創之初因為沿用泉州南安鳳山寺之名，亦稱鳳山寺，此外又稱「聖王公館」，附近也因而稱作「聖王館口」。
廟名約在日治時期的大正五年（1916年）左右更改，據說是因為當時的臺南府城已有東嶽殿、北極殿、南極殿（位於法華寺中），尚欠一以西為名的殿，遂改稱西羅殿。更多...
